“Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?”

It may be an old saying, but does it still stand true?

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, nearly 48 percent of women between the ages of 15 and 44 lived with a partner before getting married within the years of 2006 through 2011.

That number rose by 41 percent since 1995.

The report also states that 40 percent of unmarried couples living together married within three years.

Out of those who transitioned to marriage, 27 percent dissolved within five years.

Matchmaker Catherine Grace, from “It’s Just Lunch”, joins Fox 8’s Wayne Dawson to discuss the possible benefits and disadvantages of couples living together before marriage.

She also shares advice for couples considering the “big move.”
