CINCINNATI– The group campaigning to legalize marijuana in the state asked for an injunction to extend voting hours in one Ohio county.

A ResponsibleOhio spokesperson told FOX 8 it wants to keep polls open in Hamilton County because of technical problems with voting equipment. The judge responded by extending poll hours until 9 p.m.

“Unpreparedness at the polls is simply unacceptable. Any issues voters are experiencing when casting their ballots and exercising their right to democracy must be rectified. Hamilton County elections officials, and elections officials across this state, must make proper accommodations for voters experiencing difficulties at their polling places,” ResponsibleOhio said in a statement on Tuesday.

Hamilton County is home to Cincinnati, the third largest city in the state.

ResponsibleOhio is the driving force behind Issue 3, which would legalize medical and recreational marijuana for residents 21 years and older. It would also allow 10 pre-designated sites to grow and manufacture pot.
