CLEVELAND – A priest was pistol whipped in an attempted robbery in the Holy Rosary Church parking lot in Little Italy Saturday night.

The 61-year-old priest told police he exited the church and was approached by three African-American males who appeared to be in their 20s.

They attempted to rob him before pistol whipping him. Another male in the parking lot yelled for help and was robbed by the three men as well, according to police.

The priest suffered minor injuries to his hands and face and refused medical attention.

Shortly after, a female told police that men matching the same descriptions tried to rob her on Coltman, she resisted and they got away with her wallet.

Another male was also robbed on Euclid and was not hurt.

One suspect wore all black, one wore a grey sweatsuit and one wore a grey jacket.

All three were armed with handguns and one also had a rifle.

Anyone with information should contact Cleveland police.
