CLEVELAND — Fox 8’s Stefani Schaefer provided an update on her husband’s condition on Thursday.

Roger has been recovering from an April accident during which he fell 12 feet off of scaffolding and suffered severe head trauma.

Stefani admitted it had been a hard week and Thanksgiving had been quite a challenge.

Here’s Stefani’s entire post as it appears on her Facebook fan page:

“I apologize for not writing sooner… but I have to be honest, we’ve had a very tough week. I have been waiting for a moment to write when things would settle down a bit. I have been very open in sharing our story with all of you… but there is so much that I just keep private to protect Roger and his dignity. There are many details that are just too hard to talk about – and there are many things that should just remain private – for Roger. Having said that, Siena, Race and I had many challenges with Roger the few hours we had him at our home on Thanksgiving. It was overwhelming for all of us. I was so sad the days following because I just had such high hopes and high beliefs that he will be able to come home soon, and I think all the issues we encountered made me realize that we are such a long way from those realizations. A medical professional recently told me that he may never be able to come home – you could say, my bubble was not just burst, but shattered. I started telling myself that I need to be more realistic about what we are facing… but in the same breath, I HAVE to tell myself that the only way I can get through this… is by being hopeful and faithful that things WILL get better. So, I am so torn between reality and what might be and what could be. Medically – these are issues that need the experts. Roger does have another “super-bug” that infectious disease is now working on… and over the weekend, he was tested for another very serious bug – that thank God, turned out to be negative. This roller coaster just doesn’t ever seem to let up. Everyday there are new twists, turns and surprises. Not all bad surprises though – there are some wonderful sweet “Roger-isms” that slip through every now and then …just yesterday, I told Roger it was garbage day at our house and he said to me, “knock yourself out – you better get working on it!” I laughed, because he always used to say that to me! And, I always used to take down the trash to the road – so he would smile when he would come home from work and laugh to himself that I knocked myself out! So… we keep praying, pressing forward and believing that – as they say – this too shall pass. There are some days that I think of the reality… but then, I have this overwhelming feeling that this all WILL get better. That’s the wonderful and powerful feeling of FAITH.

Before I let you go, I wanted to share something with you that Sara S, a longtime Fox viewer and friend shared with me….. It’s very touching and something to reflect on during the Christmas Season. I hope you enjoy….. stef

“Jesus is better than Santa Claus” because —-

Santa lives at the North Pole…Jesus is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh…Jesus rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year…Jesus is an ever present help

Santa fills your stocking with goodies…Jesus supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited….Jesus stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa…Jesus is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap…Jesus lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, what’s your name?”…Jesus knew our name before we were born. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly…Jesus has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is “HO HO HO.”…Jesus offers health, help and hope.

Santa says “You better not cry.”…Jesus says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa’s little helpers make toys…Jesus makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and build mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but…Jesus gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree…Jesus became our gift and died on a tree…”The cross.”

Put Christ back in Christmas…Jesus Is Still The Reason For The Season !!!”
