LAKEWOOD, Ohio- If you use West 117th, expect delays starting Wednesday. The city is planning to resurface the street.

The project has been in the works for a while, and now it's finally happening.

Driver Matthew Haywood said he's looking forward to the improvements. He said after last winter, it's desperately needed.

"117th was out of control. It was like the road that time forgot. You got it separating Cleveland from Lakewood and there were potholes that looked like they were going to devour entire cars," he recalls.

The city said while construction is set to begin Wednesday, it could change if necessary. That includes all detours and delays.

Haywood said he doesn't care how long it takes, just as long as it gets done.

“You have to be able to work with this progress. I mean, yeah, the road is going to be torn up and there are going to be orange cones, but it’s going to be beautiful when it’s done and that’s what really counts," he said.

The project should be completed by December, weather permitting.
