WILLOUGHBY, Ohio--Police are investigating two weekend burglaries. Both happened sometime Saturday night.

Police say the first one was on Brighton Path off Lost Nation Road. The owners there came home to a shocking discovery.

"They found that their dog had been pepper sprayed by the suspects,” said Lieutenant James Schultz with the Willoughby Police Department.

He said their iPad was also missing.

The second burglary was across town on Colonial Boulevard. He said the suspects broke in and took some expensive jewelry.

Police believe the cases could be connected, but they won't know for sure until all the evidence is tested.

As for suspect descriptions, little is being released right now. However, Lieutenant Schultz does believe there was more than one person in each house, possibly two or three.

He also thinks they most likely cased the neighborhoods beforehand and probably parked on side streets.

"We're looking for any type of vehicles that were parked in the area, too, that were not recognized as belonging to their neighbors,” he said.

Anyone who has information about these incidents is asked to call Willoughby police.
