Police Stop Man in Van Full of Counterfeit Items

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A New York man faces felony charges after police found hundreds of counterfeit items including perfume, books and headphones in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports, it happened just before 6:30 p.m. on March 27.

Man Zhang, 30, was stopped in his 2008 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van for an improper lane change on the Ohio Turnpike in Mahoning County. Police found that Zhang had two active felony warrants for counterfeit simulation and trademark counterfeiting.

He was arrested, and police found the following items in his vehicle:

— 252 counterfeit purses
— 55 counterfeit pocket books
— 80 pairs of counterfeit Dr. Dre Beats headphones
— 204 bottles of counterfeit perfume
— 292 counterfeit T-shirts and sweatshirts
— 240 counterfeit hats
— 582 pairs of counterfeit sunglasses

Zhang now faces additional charges of trademark counterfeiting and criminal simulation.
