RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Surveillance pictures taken inside the US Bank on Wilson Mills Road in Richmond Heights show, in graphic detail, the danger faced by bank employees just after the doors opened at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

“You hear about it but you never think (it will happen) so close to home,” said Greg Raptis, a customer who found the bank “closed for an emergency” when he stopped to make a late afternoon deposit.

Surveillance photos show two men dressed in black, one wearing a ski mask, the other wearing an Oakland Raiders hat, robbing the bank.

The man wearing the hat is waving a gun at tellers; the masked robber can be seen reaching over the counter to grab money.

Another picture shows a teller handing the masked man a stack of bills.

“What’s your reaction when you realize this was going on in your bank?” asked Fox 8 News Reporter Lorrie Taylor as she showed bank customer Pat Metsch pictures from the crime.

“Pretty surprised,” he said, “I’ve never seen anything like that happen around here.”

Angela Farrow, who regularly shops in the strip mall across from Richmond Town Square, was also troubled by what she saw in the photographs.

“It’s unbelievable, to see that someone would actually do something to someone in the daylight time, you’d think these kinds of things would happen at night,” said Farrow.

“We definitely need to get these guys so they don’t hit again,” said FBI Spokesperson Vicki Anderson.

She told Taylor the two men knew what they were doing when they targeted the US Bank.

“They were intent on robbing the bank and to enter that early in the morning they were very well aware of the bank just opening and not many people around,” she said.

Anderson said the two men ran from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and headed west toward Richmond Road.

The FBI is offering a reward for any information that leads to their arrests.
