LAKEMORE, OHIO – A man may have tried to lure children two times at two different locations Friday afternoon in Lakemore, in Summit County, Police said.

“We had two separate instances and we take that very seriously and for the public’s safety we want to make sure we get that information out there,” said Sgt. Eric East with the Springfield Township Police Department.

Police said the victims gave the same description: A white or Hispanic man with black spiky hair and several tattoos on his left arm. He could have more, but they only saw his left arm.

The man was driving a tan, boxy, four-door car, that had clothing hanging off the inside hanger hook.

“On one occasion he offered candy to a boy and the girl,” East said, adding the children were 7 and 8 years old.

They were in a front yard of a home on Springfield Lake Drive about 2 p.m. when the man drove up and offered them candy – but the kids were smart, and didn’t go near him, police said.

The man tried it again at Waterworks Park.

Just two hours later a 14-year-old girl was walking along a trail in the park when she came around the corner and saw the suspect sitting alone in his car.

Police said at first he asked her, “Are you alright?” then ,”Do you want a ride?” and that’s when she took off running.

Some neighbors had heard about the attempted luring through social media.

“I mean it scare me because I’ve got two little grand kids and they are over here every weekend,” said Sherry McMillian.

Police want parents to keep a closer eye on their children.

They ask anyone with information on who this man may be to call (330) 643-2181
