ELYRIA, Ohio -- The Elyria Police Department is warning schools about a reported attempted luring.

It happened around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday on West River Road North.

An 11-year-old girl said as she was waiting for her school bus, a red Kia Rio pulled into the area and a woman in a black business suit stepped out of the car.

The woman reportedly said, "Hey little girl, do you want a hug?"

Police told Fox 8 News the woman also extended her arms and asked the girl if she could take her to school.

When the girl ran and hid behind a shed, the woman followed her.

The girl told police a male in the driver's seat of the car stepped outside, and she heard the woman say, "Get in the car."

The man, who was wearing a sweatshirt with the hood up and torn jeans, then left in the car.

The woman stayed, but disappeared when the bus arrived.

When the bus driver was later interviewed by the police, he said he had seen the woman the girl described. According to police, the 11-year-old saw the female walking down the road northbound and pointed her out to the bus driver.

Police sent out an alert to all Elyria schools, asking students, staff and parents to be extra cautious and alert.
