LORAIN, Ohio -- A man is accused of holding his former girlfriend hostage for nearly two months.

Police said Wayne Collins, 42, was arrested and is charged with kidnapping and violating a protection order the victim filed against him.

According to police, beginning in July, the 60-year-old woman claims Collins kept her locked in her bedroom inside her Lorain apartment, cutting her off from all communication including her cell phone and disconnecting her land line.

The woman told police that during that time, Collins repeatedly beat her, possibly breaking a rib.

The victim said she was able to sneak out of her apartment while Collins was sleeping to leave a note outside a neighbor's door.

The note detailed that she was being held hostage, asking the neighbor to call police.

Police arrived the following day at the same time the victim's son was coming to check on her and arrested Collins.
