16-Year-Old Charged in Teen’s Murder

CLEVELAND — The 16-year-old male who was arrested in connection with the death of a teen has been charged with aggravated murder.

Family members told FOX 8 News the victim, Jennifer Zacarias, knew the shooter.

According to Public Information Officer Sergeant Sammy Morris, dispatch received a call for a female shot at 3611 West 102nd Street.

It was just after midnight on Friday when the teen’s father heard multiple gunshots outside. He went to check on his 16-year-old daughter and found she was not in her room. That’s when he went outside and found her in the backyard with multiple gunshot wounds.

She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she later died.

According to Morris, the suspect was arrested in the 3400 block of West 88th Street.

As of Saturday, he was being held in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking for anyone with information of the shooting to contact the Homicide Unit at (216) 623-5464.
