BRONX, New York — Police in New York arrested a man in connection with the murder of his two-month-old son.
Investigators charged Jose Feliciano, 51, with second degree murder and manslaughter, WPIX in New York reported. They say he killed his son in his apartment in the Bronx back on Dec. 10. Surveillance video from Feliciano’s apartment building showed him leaving the building with a duffle bag that day, investigators said. The building’s superintendent told the New York Times the bag may have contained the baby’s body.
According to the New York Times, police said Feliciano admitted to smothering and choking the baby after he would not stop crying.
WABC in New York reported the baby’s mother walked in shortly after the baby was killed. They say Feliciano threatened to kill her, too.
Police said Feliciano and the baby’s mother took their son’s body to Dover, N.Y. to dispose of it.
The mother, who was under psychiatric care after reportedly trying to overdose on pills, told a hospital worker about the murder, WPIX reported. The hospital contacted police on Friday.
Police found the baby’s body behind a motel.
The mother has not been charged with any crime.
