CHARDON, Ohio -- Authorities in Chardon spoke at a 4 p.m. press conference asking for patience from the public and media as they conduct their investigation into the murder of one student and the shootings of four others.

Chardon Police Chief Tim McKenna said that the investigation will be painstaking,  as authorities have to conduct hundreds of interviews and listen to hours of 911 calls regarding the shootings, which broke out around 7:38 a.m.

According to McKenna, one student, Daniel Parmertor, has died from injuries suffered in the shooting. McKenna says two students had to be taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for the injuries they suffered. Those students are both currently listed in critical condition.

McKenna adds that the two students transported to Hillcrest Hospital with gun shot injuries are listed in stable and serious condition respectively.

McKenna did not identify all those shot. Nor did he identify the alleged lone shooter who remains in police custody.

McKenna says that the shooter is a minor and until adjudicated to the adult court, authorities will not identify him.
