NOKESVILLE, Va. — A couple in Virginia faces charges stemming from the death of their infant daughter after she was left alone in her crib for several hours.
According to WJLA, Adam and Jasmyne Alexander, both 21, face charges of child neglect.
Police say they found the couple’s nine-month-old daughter, Avarice, dead in her crib on Sunday. They say the couple put the baby to bed Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. and did not check on her until Sunday afternoon, nearly 16 hours later.
The couple told police the baby had developed a breathing problem about a month prior. Police say, however, the couple hadn’t taken the infant to the doctor for nearly seven months.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help pay for Avarice’s burial.
