MECCA, Ohio — Authorities were called to the scene of two fires that destroyed a barn and a home on the same property Saturday.

The original call was received shortly after 3 p.m. in the 4800 block of North Park Avenue.

Officials said they are investigating allegations that a man, upset after hearing his wife wanted a divorce, set the barn on fire. Smoke and flames were also then seen coming from the home.

Trumbull County 911 reports state that sounds of a possible explosion were also heard at the scene.

A car was found in the barn, but as of 10 p.m. Saturday, officials said the man had not been located. While the fire was under control by Saturday night, Mecca firefighters and firefighters with the Youngstown Airbase Fire Department were still at the scene.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
