AKRON--From 1940 until the University of Akron played its last football game there in 2008, the Rubber Bowl had been full of energy.

But for the past five years since games were moved to the new InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field on the Akron campus the old stadium has sat dormant.

Vandals and the elements have taken their toll.

The stadium was sold earlier this year to Canton based Team-1 Marketing for $38,000 with a plan to give it a makeover.

On Saturday, everything down to the concrete will be auctioned.

Need seating for 35,000 guests? It's yours for the right price.

Or, if you just want a bleacher section that brings back fond memories you can bid on that.

You just have to be ready to unbolt it and take it home yourself.

Stadium lights, loudspeakers, signs, old lockers and two very large safes-- everything must go.

"Everything for sale, everything but the concrete," said Chris Flanders of Team-1 Marketing.

"Anything that is worth a value to a person or anything they just want to purchase for Akron U if they used to come to Akron U. We're selling all the gates, the iron gates, the doors, anything they want, they can come and get," said Flanders.

The sale includes a set of goal posts and even the artificial turf that covers the field.

The company does have a reserve price for the turf and it will have to go before the lights can be removed.

"They're big lights," said Flanders, explaining, "We have to sell the turf before anyone can take the lights out because they have to use a crane to take the lights out and if a crane came onto the turf it would actually damage the turf, so we have to get the turf up to get the lights out."

As much as the old stadium seems to have fallen on hard times, the plan is to renovate it from the ground up.

"They are going to renovate everything in the stadium all the way down to concrete. We're going to bring it all back up and their goal is to have football games, concerts motorcross, truck rallies, carnivals, stuff like that. 'Bring this old stadium back to life,' yes sir, that's the goal," said Flanders.

The auction begins at 11 a.m. this Saturday at the Rubber Bowl.
