CLEVELAND — It’s an annual event, but this year, Bar Louie restaurants across the country were also taking a shot at a world record.
Thursday night, Bar Louie on W. 6th Street was part of the national “Rock the Tot” tater tot eating contest. The contest was split into two parts; team relay races and a solo competition.
Some contestants even showed up in costumes.
The restaurant tried to set the record for the most tater tots eaten in three minutes and the most people to eat tater tots across the country.
The winner will move on to a national competition.
“I hope I can move on,” said contestant Tom Monschein. “I was looking at the guys to the right of me. I don’t think they ate as much as I did. So I think I’m going to advance to the next level. ”
The national “Rock the Tot” championship will be held in Cleveland on October 5. The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and free tater tots for life.
