GENEVA, Ohio — A group of brave police officers took the ultimate polar plunge Saturday.
It was all to raise money for the Special Olympics.
The Cleveland Police Second District formed a team to jump into Lake Erie at Geneva on the Lake.
It was the 18th year for the plunge in support of Special Olympics Ohio.
Plungers had to raise a minimum of $100 before they took the leap.
“There are over 2,300 athletes that compete in the state, and it provides them with year-round sports training and competitions, so it’s a great cause,” said Chandra Brode, event coordinator. “This event just has a pulse about it. Everybody loves it. We’re just die-hard. We’ve had a vortex year, and we’re still out here supporting Special Olympics, so it’s wonderful.”
The event raised about $70,000 this year.
