CLEVELAND, Ohio — A solemn occasion was held Sunday in Public Square to honor the men and women killed in the line of duty.

It was the 12th annual Rally for Troops.

The event is supported by 10 Northeast Ohio Harley Davidson Dealerships, and hundreds of motorcyclists joined in to support veterans and their families.

Several speakers took the podium, including one veteran who said a “thank you” is one of the best things you can offer men and women in the military.

“One thing we don’t expect — a thank you,” said Kim Bowman, U.S. Marine Corps veteran. “The first time I ever had someone thank me for my service, I was probably 10 years out of the Marine Corps. I was so touched. It was truly one of the nicest things anyone had ever said to me.”

Sunday’s event concluded with the reading of the names of each of Ohio’s fallen heroes.

A post rally for troops was provided after the event at the Rock and Roll City Harley Davidson.
