INDIANAPOLIS — We could all learn something from one teenager in Indianapolis — especially at this time of year.

A customer was so moved by the boy’s story, he shared it on Facebook.

Cameron Nelson said when he walked into Chick-fil-A, he noticed a young man working with a neck brace and a sling. Nelson wrote, “We sneeze too hard & decide to call in, but he’s workin like nothing’s wrong.”

Nelson asked the teen, Jakeem Tyler, what had happened to him. Tyler told him he had been in a car accident, but was back at work because he needed the money — but that wasn’t the only reason. The boy also wanted to feed the homeless for Christmas and needed the cash.

Nelson was so touched by what the teen shared with him.

“…maybe I was supposed to go in there. I think I may kick down a hundred or two on payday to help him out…he’s definitely doin it for a great cause & I was amazed he’s still workin despite his condition.”

Nelson went beyond that. He started a Go Fund Me page to help Tyler raise the money. It’s at nearly $9,000 — well past the $2,500 goal.

Chick-fil-A told Fox 59: “Jakeem is a phenomenal young man and an outstanding team member.  He is an inspiration both in terms of his work ethic and commitment to serving others.”
