Stark County woman struck, killed while attempting to help injured animal

TUSCARAWAS TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — A pedestrian was killed during a crash in Stark County Friday evening.

It happened around 7:18 p.m. on state Route 241 near Kidron Road in Tuscarawas Township.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said the victim, identified as a 55-year-old West Massillon woman, had parked her vehicle in the northbound lane of SR 241 and exited the car in attempt to help an injured animal.

She was then struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on the road.

The victim died of her injuries at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Stark County Sheriff’s Office at 330-430-3800.
