Akron police search for hit-and-run driver who struck and killed pedestrian

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run accident that happened early Monday morning.

Shortly after 3:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck at East Tallmadge Avenue and Redstone Avenue.

The 39-year-old man was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle going eastbound. The driver fled the area after the accident.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene and transported to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be done.

The only description of the suspect’s vehicle is possibly a blue car.

The victim was identified as 59-year-old Scottie Miller, according to the medical examiner’s office.
