RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A passenger captured a picture of an RTA bus fire that showed intense flames lighting up the night.

According to the Richmond Police Department, the fire started around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Richmond and Highland roads in Richmond Heights.

Dave Spector of Euclid tweeted about the experience.  He said while riding the 94 he heard a loud pop.

“Smoke filled the cabin first and we all went running!” Spector said on Twitter.

Everyone got off the bus before it went up in flames.  No one was hurt.

Everything was under control within the hour, and a replacement bus was sent to pick up the passengers.

It was not clear how many people were on the bus at the time of the fire or what started it.
