WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WJW) — Officials were on scene for hours after a dump truck reportedly crashed into a Willoughby home Saturday morning, killing one and hospitalizing another.

Monday, the Willoughby Police Department identified the deceased as 22-year-old Jayden Deitrich of Willoughby.

Willoughby Fire Chief Todd Ungar confirmed to FOX 8 they were called to a home on Vine and Church Street around 10:50 a.m. following the fiery incident and said that no one was inside the house at the time.

“There were power lines down, a gas meter had been struck and ultimately the truck itself and the house were on fire,” Ungar said.

The driver was transported to the hospital after residents were able to help him out of the vehicle, but Deitrich was determined dead at the scene.

It is not yet known what exactly caused the crash.
