PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A woman is behind bars after Parma Heights police said she barricaded herself inside a home, forcing them to call in the SWAT team.

It happened at a house in the 5800 block of Queens Highway around 3 p.m. Saturday.

The police chief told FOX 8 that the landlord was planning to issue an eviction notice and do a premise check with officers acting as an escort.

Upon arrival, the suspect’s husband told them she wasn’t home even though it was clear she was hiding upstairs. Officers then noticed weapons inside and decided to call in SWAT since she also had multiple felony warrants.

The woman’s husband, their seven-year-old son and another man were evacuated.

Some kind of gas was then deployed and the suspect finally surrendered.

Her name is not being released at this time.
