ELYRIA, Ohio – Parents and more than a dozen children in Elyria are on edge after they were reportedly stalked by two men in a Jeep who tried to lure one of the boys into their vehicle.
“Two guys in a red Jeep pull up and the one said, ‘Hey little man, I need your help; get in the car.’ I told him no, and I ran to the house,” said a 12-year-old boy, who FOX 8 News is not identifying because of his age and the nature of the alleged crime.
He said two men tried to lure him into their vehicle Friday at about 9 p.m. in Elyria.
“They came back three times. It’s like they really wanted these kids,” said Kelly Madis, who said she took about a dozen neighborhood kids, from the ages of three to 12 to North Rec Park in Elyria, Friday, when two strange men in a red Jeep began stalking them, and tried to lure a 12-year-old boy.
“I was thinking that my neighbor had a whole group of kids and one of them could easily come up missing out of it,” the boy said.
“Well then, I was right around the corner from where he was, OK. The red jeep kept coming back. It came back once. I started screaming for the kids. It came back twice again, circled around us. It was not going to stop,” Madis said, adding the third time the men drove by she saw the passenger do something horrifying.
“I saw the guy reach down like this, and reach up. The only thing I could think of is maybe a gun. I don’t know because I really couldn’t tell. So, I told the kids to start running,” Madis said, adding she called the police.
Police have not arrested any suspects.
“You know, ‘cuz now my kids are terrified,” parent, Ashley Marcum said.
Madis and Marcum want other parents in the area to keep a close eye on their children.
“Teach them what to say, how to react to something like that,” Marcum said.
