PERKINS TOWNSHIP, OH – A 65-year-old Bellevue, Ohio man lost his life in a crash that the Ohio State Patrol says was caused by a medical condition.

Kenneth Gerhardstein was pulling out of a driveway on Campbell Street in Perkins Township at around 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning when he was affected by the medical condition. The patrol says that his car ran off the road, hitting bushes, a basketball hoop and two parked cars before it came to a stop.

Gerhardstein was taken to Firelands Emergency Room, but he passed away from the medical condition, which the patrol has no specifics on. No drugs or alcohol are suspected to be other factors in the accident and the investigation continues.
