ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol released information Friday afternoon about a deadly accident involving several vehicles.

The crash closed SR 11 for several hours Friday morning; the area reopened shortly after noon.

The crash happened at 7 a.m. on State Route 11 just south of the bridge that runs over I-90 eastbound lanes.

The highway patrol said a Chevrolet Trailblazer tried to merge onto SR 11 northbound from I-90 eastbound and lost control, crossing over all four lanes of SR 11.

The Chevrolet was struck by a Dodge Caravan that was traveling northbound on SR 11.

The Dodge overturned after impact and came to rest in the lanes of SR 11 northbound.

A Buick Verano was traveling northbound on SR 11 and struck the overturned Dodge in the roadway.

A passenger in the Buick, a 74-year-old woman from Jefferson, Ohio, died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Buick was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
