AKRON – Clayton Murphy had a nice, warm welcome at the University of Akron on Wednesday.
Murphy won a bronze medal in the Men’s 800-meter in Rio and he’s the first American man to medal in the 800-meter since 1992, three years before Murphy was born.
The New Paris, Ohio, native set a personal best of 1:42.93 for bronze.
David Rudisha of Kenya won his second 800-meter Olympic title in a row.
The University of Akron tweeted, “Congratulations to our own Clayton Murphy! Bronze Olympic Medalist in Men’s 800 M! #ForeveraZip”
