CLEVELAND (WJW) – Could you be sitting on a gold mine? A number of items from old toys to dishes and sports memorabilia could be worth big bucks.

“Maybe it’s the age, maybe it’s the condition, maybe it’s the material that it’s made out of, maybe it’s the detail in it,” said Michael Press, owner of Pier & Co., an estate sale and liquidation company in Akron.

More than 200 items have been ranked by as being the “most valuable” collector items in the world – from old lunch boxes to Barbie dolls and VHS tapes.

Local experts weighed in on the list for Fox 8 News and gave their advice on handling any and all collectibles. 

“Because it’s very very easy to give away a small fortune to somebody else,” said Tom Brode, owner of Five Star Collectibles in Streetsboro.
