CLEVELAND– The Ohio Supreme Court set a date for attorneys to present oral arguments in the appeal of convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell.
Those arguments are now scheduled to begin on April 5.
In October 2009, Cleveland police discovered the bodies of 11 women around Sowell’s home on Cleveland’s east side. Nearly two years later, he was sentenced to death row.
Lawyers filed appeals raising a number of issues to get Sowell a new trial. They argue he did not get a fair trial, partially because jury selection was held behind closed doors.
The Supreme Court docket shows the last legal filings in the case came in 2014.
