DAYTON, Ohio — A southwest Ohio man accused of plotting to murder his estranged wife and their two children is jailed on $750,000 bond.
A prosecutor says 30-year-old James M. Lane, of Riverside in suburban Dayton, was arrested after his wife notified police on March 16 that he was stalking her. Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says police found evidence in Lane’s vehicle, including a lock-picking kit, duct tape, zip ties, latex gloves and a firearm.

An indictment filed Friday against Lane includes charges of attempted murder, attempted kidnapping and violation of a protection order.
Court records list no attorney for him. Montgomery County records show his arraignment is scheduled Tuesday.
The prosecutor says it is fortunate Lane’s wife was alert about her surroundings and promptly contacted police.
