PARMA, Ohio -- The robbery suspect who was shot to death by police on Interstate 480 Thursday has been identified as Michael J. Brennan, 31, of Lakewood.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office released the man's ID Friday morning.

Thursday's chain of events began after a Papa John's in Parma Heights was robbed at gunpoint. As the suspect was leaving afterward, officers spotted his truck and followed him.

The chase continued onto Interstate 480, where the truck crashed into a median.

The suspect then got out of the vehicle holding a gun. That's when six officers fired their weapons. Brennan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Interstate 480 eastbound was closed between State and Ridge roads for several hours.
