CLEVELAND -- A new documentary is shedding light on the obesity epidemic across the United States, particularly in Northeast Ohio.

It's called The Weight of the Nation, and it's set to air on HBO May 14th, 15th.

According to the documentary, more than two thirds of our nation’s adults and nearly one third of children are overweight or obese.

Northeast Ohio was one of a handful of locations that is highlighted in the documentary.

It says that Cuyahoga County has the greatest disparity of anywhere in the country in life expectancy.

In Hough, life expectancy is 64 years of age. Just eight miles away in Lyndhurst , the life expectancy is 90.

Thursday, a screening was held at the Great Lakes Science Center.

"We need to educate everyone and start re-tooling kids with fitness and eating healthy. Not having a candy bar or processed food, but having an apple with all natural peanut butter instead. I'm here tonight as an advocate for the program, in partnership with Time Warner Cable and Keiser Permanente and HBO to bring it to the fore front and expose it for what it is. The epidemic that it is," said Rocco Whalen, owner and chef of Fahrenheit.

Whalen is among those on a panel that will discuss the documentary after it airs.
