CLEVELAND– The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a local youth minister on a series of sex charges.

Brian Mitchell is facing 10 counts of sexual battery. He is accused of having sexual contact with a teen girl.

The prosecutor’s office said Mitchell  served as a youth minister at Columbia Road Baptist Church in North Olmsted. A court document shows a mother went to Fairview Park police to report “her minor daughter…was involved in an on/off sexual relationship with a 31-year-old youth pastor.”

A sexual battery charge generally gets pursued in cases when a suspect is considered to have some position of authority over the victim.

The court docket shows Mitchell due to go before a judge to begin facing the charges on April 19. Court records did not list a phone number for him or an attorney.
