North Canton man accused of pouring gasoline on another man, starting house fire

NORTH CANTON, Ohio- A man set fire to a North Canton home and doused another man in gasoline Thursday night, police said.

Neighbors called 911 to report a fire on Lipton Avenue Southwest at about 6:35 p.m. Thursday.

North Canton police said Roy D. Cintron, 54, told officers her started a fire in the rear bedroom of the house. Cintron also poured gasoline on 54-year-old man’s head and face, according to officers. The victim did not suffer any burns, but he was taken to Aultman Hospital.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within 20 minutes of arriving. The damage, estimated at $5,000, was contained to a first-floor bedroom.

Cintron appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with aggravated arson and felonious assault, and taken to the Stark County Jail.
