ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Search crews were expected to continue their search for a missing pregnant woman in southern Ohio.
According to CNN affiliate WBNS, Shasta Himelrick hasn’t been seen since Christmas night.
Surveillance video captured her early Friday morning at a gas station in Chillicothe.
Her car was found abandoned south of Chillicothe.
“This makes four days,” Stacie Lockhart, Himelrick’s cousin, said. “There was blood in the vehicle. We know she’s injured. She needs to be found.”
Volunteer firefighters and law enforcement searched by boat, on foot, on horseback and ATV Monday but turned up nothing.
Himelrick’s family said they appreciate the work being done by the search and rescue team, but they have hired a private search team that hasn’t been allowed to work the past few days.
Ross County Sheriff George Lavender says it’s because he didn’t want to risk anyone tampering with evidence.
“I want my people there,” Lavender said. “My people in place. And if somebody finds something, my people would immediately call it in.”
Lavender said search crews will keep looking for clues near the area where Himelrick’s car was found.
“Everything we can out in that area we want to make sure that we check and check it thoroughly,” Lavender said.
Himelrick’s family says they won’t give up hope that she’s okay.
“We just want her found,” Lockhart said.
