SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio– The Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol released new information Friday night into the deadly crashes that happened on the Ohio Turnpike on Wednesday, March 12, during a snowstorm.

The OSHP said 50 different crash investigations happened that day; three people died; 49 people were injured; and 126 vehicles were damaged.

One of the people injured was Trooper Andrew Clouser, 29.

The worst area was the eastbound side of the turnpike between mile posts 101 to 102. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said six separate crashes happened there, with 55 vehicles crashing in the area.

The OSHP said following too closely and unsafe speed for the weather conditions caused the crashes.
