Standoff ends; Akron school lockdown lifted

AKRON, Ohio — Ellet High School in Akron was on lockdown for about 40 minutes Thursday due to a standoff nearby.

According to a district spokesperson, a man was barricaded in a house and SWAT and a negotiator were at the scene.

The house was located on the street behind the high school.

The lockdown took effect around 10:51 a.m. and was lifted around 11:30 a.m.

The suspect was taken into custody, the district said.
