CANTON, Ohio — Dozens of concerned parents and citizens attended the Jackson Local School District School Board meeting Tuesday night at Lake Cable Elementary School.

Many are still unnerved by the recent arrest of one of their coaches.

Freshman basketball coach Scott D. Studer, 46, was allegedly caught with hidden cameras in the boys’ high school locker room and videos of about two dozen students showering.

Superintendent Christopher DiLoreto explained in great detail how the events unfolded last Wednesday, November 14.

Although there was no public comment on the agenda, the superintendent told the crowd that he wants to hear from them and is willing to meet in private with anyone to discuss their concerns.

He also said, “We’ll continue to maintain the normalcy of a school day as well as provide resources and support for our kids.”

Studer is still being held in the Stark County Jail on $2 million bond facing six second-degree felony charges of “illegal use of minority in nudity oriented material/performance.”

The board accepted his resignation Tuesday, and announced that a seasoned teacher and successful golf coach named Jim Kish would be the new freshman basketball coach.

“Basketball season is fast approaching and we certainly didn’t want any setbacks,” said Superintendent DiLoreto.

More than anything, the superintendent says they want to move forward and not let one person define the entire district.

“I think it’s very important that as a school community we don’t allow any individual to define us . We’re coming together. We’re rallying and we’re going to come out stronger.”

If Studer is convicted he faces eight years and a $15,000 fine for each of the counts.
