SAN ANTONIO, Texas — People across the country are outraged over a mattress store ad referencing the Sept. 11 attacks.
KABB reports that the ad was filmed for Miracle Mattress earlier this week to get the word out that the store would be having a ‘twin tower’ sale for the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The ad shows two piles of mattresses depicting the Twin Towers. They then collapse to the ground while the co-owner of the store, Cherise Bonanno, says “We will never forget.”
Bonanno is apologizing for the ad. She said she didn’t realize the 20-second commercial would cause the controversy it has.
“It was stupid,” she said. “It was a stupid idea that we sent out, and we apologize for our stupidity, and we really hope that you forgive us for what we have done.”
Miracle Mattress says they will donate 30 percent of their sales this weekend to the 9/11 Foundation.
Co-owner Mike Bonanno released the following statement on Facebook:
A Walmart in Florida recently also came under fire for a 9/11-themed Coke display. The display also depicted the Twin Towers in cases of Coke.
