MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio (WJW) — Several crews were called out Thursday night to a massive industrial fire in Middlefield Township.
A FOX 8 viewer sent us video of the scene.
In the video, flames can be seen shooting from a lumber yard on Station Road.
The fire started at about 8 p.m., according to a Friday afternoon news release from the Middlefield Fire Department Capt. Tony Yeropoli.
Crews who entered the building “encountered poor visibility and heat conditions” and were forced to withdraw, it reads.
Shortly after, fire broke through the building’s roof. Numerous other departments were called to aid.
Crews worked several hours to bring the fire under control and were still on-scene Friday afternoon extinguishing hot spots, the captain said.
No one was injured.
Two companies in the area are located next to each other, the Hardwood Lumbar Company and Mouldings One. But no other buildings were damaged, said Yeropoli.
The fire remains under investigation by the Middlefield Fire Department, the Geauga County Fire Investigation Unit and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
