Massillon police search for man who impersonated officer, kidnapped little girl

MASSILLON, Ohio - The Massillon Police department is searching for a man who abducted and assaulted a 9-year-old girl from a downtown Massillon sidewalk Monday around 4:30  p.m.

The little girl was walking home from the library in the  500 block of Second Street and Cherry Road when the suspect pulled up next to her and said he was a police officer and that she was reported missing.

Police said the suspect then grabbed the girl, put her in his truck, drove her to a nearby location and assaulted her. Officers are looking for a black pick-up truck with skulls on the side and the word Ohio in the back window.

The suspect is described as a white male, thin/medium build, a scruffy beard, brown hair and middle age.

The child is currently under care at a local hospital and is in stable condition.
