VALLEY VIEW, Ohio — March is a big month for the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter.
This coming weekend, the shelter will be welcoming people of all ages who want to volunteer and help out shelter dogs like this week’s featured pups, Whinni the Poo, Cammie and Rosetta.

A Junior Shelter Volunteer Orientation is set for 10 a.m. Sunday, March 6.
Kids between 9 and 18 years of age will learn how to help out behind the scenes at the shelter to gain working knowledge of the facility and, in some cases, get volunteer service hours for school.
A New Volunteer Orientation will also be held. That orientation is about one hour long and covers the shelter’s visions and missions along with various programs, how the community can get involved and different areas of shelter life volunteers can help with.
Then, March Muttness kicks off on March 13. Eight of the shelter’s dogs start the bracket, and winners for each week’s favorite will be voted for on the shelter’s Facebook page. Each week, the winner will move on. And each week, the shelter reduces the adoption fee for the winning dog by $10.
Lastly, the shelter’s newest fundraiser is also coming up: Easter Pet Photos. You can get your photo taken with your pet and the shelter’s own Easter bunny. You can always ‘borrow’ a pet from the shelter for your picture. The sessions are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 19-20. All funds will go to the Dick Goddard’s Best Friends’ Medical Relief Fund.
