Man wanted in violent sock attack on female RTA bus driver

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man swinging a sock holding a brick or rock reportedly attacked an RTA driver early Sunday.

According to the RTA, it happened at about 12:43 a.m. on the No. 11 bus route. The bus was heading west in the area of East 39th Street and Community College Avenue.

A male boarded the bus and began swinging a long sock at the female driver. A witness told police the sock appeared to contain a brick or a rock. The sock struck the driver three to four times in the face, neck and shoulders.

The driver was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released. According to reports, a piece of the rock or brick also hit a male passenger, who declined medical attention.

Witnesses told police the suspect was a black male wearing a black hoodie with a red patch.

The incident is still under investigation.
