CLEVELAND, Ohio– A suspect wanted for murder was found hiding under a child’s bed in a Cleveland home, according to the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.
They said Jonathan Vargas, 28, was arrested Friday morning on Eve Ave., on the city’s west side. He was found hiding under a toddler bed with the young child still in the bed.
Vargas has been wanted since August for aggravated murder. He’s accused of forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s house and shooting Julio Perez, 41. Perez later died.
“This fugitive was a danger to the community and even more, a danger to the children living in the home where he was hiding. The community of the west side of Cleveland will be that much safer with Jonathan Vargas behind bars,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
