BARBERTON, Ohio (WJW) — A suspect was arrested after a man was stabbed to death inside a house in Barberton Wednesday morning.
A resident, who wasn’t at home, called police to report an unwanted person inside their house at 17th Street Northwest near West Hopocan Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. Barberton police said they entered and found the homeowner’s father-in-law, 64-year-old Mark T. Miller, of Akron, dead from stab wounds.
At about the same time, officers responded to a crash at the nearby Rally’s. The driver, identified as 19-year-old Brandon Churchill, fled on foot and was arrested by a Dumpster near a downtown restaurant.
Churchill was charged with murder and taken to the Summit County Jail. His bond was set at $1 million.
Police said he previously lived at the house on 17th Street Northwest.
