Man robs Ashtabula County hotel at knifepoint

AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio– Deputies in Ashtabula County are looking for the man who robbed a hotel at knifepoint Sunday night.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn on Austinburg Road in Austinburg Township.

The sheriff’s office said the man demanded money and got away with about $240 in a dark-colored Chevrolet pick-up truck. The suspect was wearing a brown Carhart coat with the name “Smith” embroidered on the back. No one was injured.

A K-9 led deputies to the America’s Best Value Inn on Route 45. According to the sheriff’s office, the hotel clerk said the suspect was there asking for a room.
