CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Brooklyn, Ohio, man could spend more than 25 years in prison after admitting to using Facebook to establish an illegal relationship with a teenage girl.
According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Chris O’Banion, 42, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual battery, pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, menacing by stalking and possessing criminal tools.
Prosecutors say O’Banion pretended to be a high school student in order to befriend the 16-year-old victim online. He then coerced her into having sex with him, according to prosecutors.
O’Banion will be sentenced on Oct. 9, and faces a prison sentence of up to 26.5 years for his crimes.
The case was investigated by the Brooklyn Police Department with assistance from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. O’Banion was arrested in New Orleans in March and was extradited to Cuyahoga County in May.
